So that’s what stinging nettle looks like
For those unfamiliar with its blessings, the sensation is very wasp-like and lasts only a few minutes. Not much poison ivy to speak of up here in Illinois, at least not in the homey north Texas ubiquity, so the contact dermatitis was brief, and my journey uninterrupted.
This may not be urticaria dioica, en sensu stricto, but if we are ethnobotanizing based off of utility, as we do, then this is a No Touchy plant.

Still passing exactly one dead deer per tank of gas, but the mile markers that are dead armadillos have transitioned to raccoons, or other creatures, non-identifiable to me at velocity. No vehicular performance aberrations to speak of. New brake pads are purchased but yet to be installed. I’ll get an alignment somewhere probably.
Missing the winding and treacherous mountain roads of Missouri. Roads change elevation fast enough to pop ears. Thought of staying another night by the Meramac River, but was time to hit the road.

Absentmindedness and impulsivity put me on the offramp northbound towards Chicago. Slept the non precipitating half of the night in hammock at Maple Grove fishing hole, Lake Springfield, IL.

Had a visit with an old friend Big Pete in Bloomington then about to sleep in the hammock in Starved Rock. I’ll do a day of exploring tomorrow and then maybe go see Chicago.

No crafting yet but haven’t set up proper camp yet anywhere to bust things out. I have many stained glass bats started that need finishing. Atmosphere is lovely here, weather and cellular reception are good, so might try to set the web store up while I am here.
